Nicole's Celebrity Infinity Alaska Cruise - July 2003
My husband and I just got back from our Alaska cruise on the Celebrity
Infinity. It was a great experience, being our first cruise and
our first time to Alaska. We had an amazing room, and the ports
were wonderful. We had a flight trip cancelled in Juneau because
of rain, but we weren't too upset. We did the gold panning and salmon
bake, and that was a lot of fun. The place they had the salmon bake
was lvely, and the salmon had just started spawning the week before,
so we got to see a lot of salmon swimming up to the waterfalls.
We did the float plane/cruise tour of the misty fjords in Ketchikan,
and that was really great, except that it was basically an all day
trip. We did get to see 2 black bears, many harbor seals, several
bald eagles, and a bald eagle nest. In Skagway we did the train
ride, in the evening, and that was very enjoyable. It had a lot
of great views. I think the best of all was Hubbard Glacier. It
was amazing, and we were very surprised at how close we got to it
(although I'm sure the distance was hard to tell).
The ship itself was great, and the crew were very helpful and
friendly. The only complaint we had about it was the embarkation.
It was extremly disorganized and a pain to get through. The disembarkation
was much better, very organized and smooth.
