Return to Question of the Week Highlights

If you have stayed at the DVC Villas at Wilderness Lodge in the past, how have you enjoyed your stay(s) there? What are the strengths of this resort compared to the other DVC resorts? What about this resort do you think can be improved? Does the location of this resort (the closest DVC resort to the Magic Kingdom) make a difference when you are considering a stay there?

We stayed in a 2br and took friends with us the week before Christmas in 2005. It was wonderful. The decorations were lovely. We ate at both Artiste Pointe and Whispering Canyon and both were great. Good service and good food. The 13 year old loved the pool slide and the pool, and having access to the ferries was great, always a more fun way to get to MK and Epcot than taking a bus. The balcony is not as large as the patio at OKW, but is was a great place for bird watching and morning coffee.

We would stay at VWL again. This was only our 2nd DVC trip, the first being at OKW. We like both equally.

We finally were able to stay VWL this past October! It was better than I imagined! When we checked in, our room was ready but they said they wanted us to wait for a better room! After a little debate, we waited. The wait was well worth it! We had a view that overlooked the quiet pool, the trees and a little of the lake! It was gorgeous! The rooms were very nice and they were more our style. We own and have stayed at BWV and they were nice but VWL was more us. We have also stayed at SSR and were very impressed as well. We have 3 year old twins and the proximity to MK was very nice. We had several different options of getting to the park and we never took the same means of transportation in one day. We even ventured through Contemporary to see an old friend of mine that moved from Chicago to Celebration! The trek back to the resort was great to rest in the afternoon and take a swim before heading back to the parks. In the future, I would love to add a big chunk of points from VWL! In order of preference now, VWL, SSR, BC, BWV.

We have 175 points at the VWL and love it there. It is extremely relaxing and pretty.
The positives are the relaxing feel of the resort, proximity to MK, restaurent choices and beautiful pools.
As far as negative, I just wish they had a few more washers/dryers since we always stay in a studio.

This our home resort and we love it there. It is so relaxing there. We're adding on next time we're down there

pros
-the boat to the MK - beats taking the bus
-atmosphere - it's like being at the lake without the noise of all the seedoos buzzing around
-quiet

cons
costs a little more points
parking - after staying at SSR I will agree that having the car right outside the building is a bonus
